Flag Roping
1. Place shrink tube onto rope. Loop rope thru flag clip.
2. Join rope together using metal rope grip. Pliers are required for this.
3. Slide shrink tube over splice grip and heat with hot air gun or cigarette lighter.
4. Repeat for other rope end.
Thread rope through the pulley/dead-eye at top of flagpole. If the old rope is still there - this is easily done by cutting the old rope and butt joining the new rope to it (electrical tape can be used to achieve this).
Place the two ends of the new rope together and check that the bottom of the rope hangs about 900mm below the cleat, this may seem to be too much, but it is done because the rope will shrink in time. On very tall flagpoles you may wish to even extend this distance.
It is a good idea to now wrap electrical tape around the flagpole and both ropes (1 meter from the ends) so that you do not accidentally pull the rope out of the pulley/dead eye. Attach one end of the rope to a flag clip, refer to DETAIL A. Attach the other rope end to the same flag clip refer to DETAIL Above.
Now attach the second flag clip to the rope, refer to DETAIL Below. The distance between flag clips should be adjusted to suit the flag. On a standard size flag (1800x900mm) the flag clips should be about 1100mm apart. When the flag is
attached too the flag clips the tension should be through the flag. The rope between the flag clips should have a little slack. The second flag clip you installed can always be removed and reinstalled to suit each different size flag.
